I guess it illustrates the problem of marks on pots. The mark looks very much likes those in the books but the pot looks nothing likes Bill's work.

This is the quandary we had today, the mark looks spot on but not like any of Bills work

Would there be any way of finding out for sure, or are we deluding ourselves

I have a piece of Willing somewhere, thought I'd posted it, I'll dig it out.
It's here, I think those hyphens mucked up the search.

Shared it with a collector of Marshall's work and they said it is his mark but the style and decoration is that of Kenneth Quick, so probably a collaboration between them as they did work together for a time.
(Definitely not the Willing Pottery mark)

Re: William (Bill) Marshall and Kenneth Quick ?
Bill Marshall was Kenneth Quick's Uncle Bill and this lidded pot does decoratively look somewhat like the domestic wares that Quick produced at his own Tregenna Hill Pottery in St. Ives from 1955 to 1960. However, to me this pot looks to have none of the quality of throwing that both Bill and Kenneth achieved and the decoration also looks too stilted to convince me that either of them had anything to do with it.
Of course, I could be wrong but I would need some pretty concrete evidence to convince me otherwise.
