The EP stands for Empire Porcelain so I guess the Image 70 is the pattern name.

Re: Empire ware - Empire Porcelain Co.
It is one of the last marks used in the 1960s. The company closed in 1967.

Staffs 1920s/30s, like Beswick, but the mark looks to be embossed
rather than impressed.
I know I've seen these before...., Trentham/Wade Heath/Clews/Empire/Shorter/Crown Devon, etc etc

Re: Empire ware - Empire Porcelain Co.
Empire Ware dated July 1935 but can anyone describe the type of glaze? It's rather beautiful although the darker areas in the image are actually lighter in the real thing!
Thanks

Just art pottery "flown" glazes. Nice piece, never seen an Empire like that before.
Strange it's called Empire porcelain, as they only seem to have made earthenwares.

Re: Empire ware - Empire Porcelain Co.
I thought the same about the company name but they did make some porcelain items from the late 1950s onwards.

Thanks both. Body looks like stoneware to me. It would be too early for porcelain but it's not earthenware.
