Hi

I LOVE this.

Carried out by a very skilful hand. The ' farmer' is holding a crook and a sheaf of corn and has very wild eyes

There are no surface scratches so feel it is recent. Sadly no mark to base

Looks very like the style of Millhouse Pottery, but I've come across similar unmarked Barbara Winrow pieces like the one below, so it could be one of hers.

Thanks . Yes I agree it looks very like Alan Frewin's work. Found another platter with his mark and the lettering is almost identical.
Going to have to keep an eye on my sister . From someone who was completely disinterested in pots she saw this when I missed it.

There is an identical platter on Worthpoint described as ? Mary Wondrauch.
Any chance do you think?

Can't find any images of her work exactly like it. She appears to produce brown slip on yellow background when she does what I would call her more ' naive' work

I'm not convinced it's one of Mary's. She's a bit messier with her pictures, and a bit naughtier with her verse.

Looks more like Millhouse to me too.

I've mailed Alan Frewin and it's not one of his - so the search goes on !!

Naomi strikes again. Her vague suggestion that it might be Barbara Winrow is correct.
I contacted the pottery and quickly got a response from her husband, Ian, confirming that Barbara had indeed made the platter.

Made between 1976 - 80 whilst at Epworth , North Lincolnshire

So again thanks Naomi Clap
