Stein Empty Stein

Vintage stein, 1/2L, marked H 1268 on the base. Marbled clay with moulded design infilled with buff slip, and with gold highlights. 19th Century? German?

well the Germans do mark beer steins in that way to show volume

The clay body looks like red earthenware. If so, that doesn't seem what one would expect from Germany.

yes 99% is stoneware
