It was George Tonkin Holland, who "moved to the Dunster Pottery in 1958" and stayed there seven years. There was pottery making in the area from way back and the words in brackets are how it was written in a small book about the Fishley Holland Pottery written by Jane Lilly. To me the wording suggests that he took over a pottery rather than started one but I could be wrong.

George certainly could have made the vase but the earthenware seems to contain far more sand than typical GTH Dunster wares and one would have thought that he would have signed this vase with his initials. On balance I think it might be pre-GTH but to date I haven't found any information but will keep looking.

It was suggested that my little green agateware pin-dish, stamped Dunster and G, was by Protean pottery. Set up in Dunster by H J Gee in 1959 according to Goddens. (thanks to Gareth-h for the information)

I think that your vase pre-dates Fishley Holland

All the indications I have found online suggest that George Holland started the Dunster Pottery but I'll keep digging.

I don't think it's from the kiln in the link below: -

Maybe it was made by one of his kids?

There is no indication that he had children. He had two nephews, who potted. Peter Fishley Holland, who worked briefly at Clevedon but moved to Jedburgh and St. John Child, who also worked at Clevedon.

Or maybe I'm just seeing things.

If you're talking about your Graham Fern bowl, Brin, then, no, it's not Dunster.
