Japanese Pottery Vase For Flower Arrangments Empty Japanese Pottery Vase For Flower Arrangments

I posted this on another site a while ago and no one was really sure what it was used for
I guessing it was for flower arrangements

I saw a pair a vases up for sale but lost track of them...They had the same signatures(?) and were represented as 19c antiques.
I tend to be skeptical of what others represent their items as so I come here.
The piece is 6" high
5" long and 3" wide. weighs 2.2lbs
it has art deco-y lines to it
The signature which is on the bottom,  is painted not stamped on ( I think)
This is the front. All the sides have something different painted  (transfered?) on and trimmed in gold
Thank you for any help you can give me.
