Large blue slab vase, any ideas please?
Large blue bubbled slab vase, 9 x 5 x 3.5", ground pontil, also top 2 - 3" are slightly matt giving a contrast with the polish of the rest of the vase, any ideas as to maker would be much appreciated.

That was my first thought too.

I had imagined that it was a 60/70's piece but I presume if recycled it will be much more recent?

There's a lot of recycled glass coming out of Europe (eg France, Spain) , Egypt, and Mexico. The poorly finished pontil is a definite give away. As for age, could be new. I've seen new items with artificially scuffed up bases in antique and charity shops, so that is no sign of age.

Thanks Naomi, I did wonder about the pontil and that explains it. Paul
