Also looks a bit like Babbacombe and Lauriana.

Derek Fowler Studio Limited
Hi there,
My mother passed away recently, subsequently I have a exhibition piece that I would love to get more information on. This Moss Pottery piece was a treasured item, dose anyone have any information on this piece?
The pottery stands approximately 450mm high and 1meter in circumference, it has the original globe ( still working) and it is in near perfect condition. I believe that it was an exhibition piece. I believe this is an unusually large piece from this studio. Has anyone seen this piece before? or dose anyone know more about it. I would like to know what would be an appropriate amount to have it insured for. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers Tom Szalay

Re: Derek Fowler Studio Ltd.
I had moved your original post to the ID My Pottery section incase you weren't sure of the attribution, but I can delete that one if you prefer.

We will need to see photos of the item.

There is a lot of Derek Fowler's work in the UK and it's not as popular as it used to be; you can check sold items on ebay to see what an average sized one would fetch. I'm afraid I dont know how popular a larger exhibition piece would be.

Re: Derek Fowler Studio Ltd.
I suspect they were made for display in the shops stocking Derek Fowler pieces. Or maybe a special commission for Bernard Moss's Pottery
It's a nice big piece that would appeal to collectors of Fowler's pieces, especially of family and friends who worked there. I cant give you a valuation for insurance, though, as I haven't managed to find comparable pieces on the market. And if you decided to sell it, the high cost of sending it to a buyer in the UK would affect the price they'd be willing to pay for it.

Derek Fowler Studios - Some history
Dear All, I am a new member of the forum. I worked with Derek Fowler in 1970's, making the various slip-cast items, including the plaster moulds
and controlling the slip mixing etc.
I do not remember a "Chelsea" branch and have often wondered since and having seen a good number of night-lights and storage jars on various sites for sale, whether it was marketing ploy. Maybe it sounded better than printing "Clapham Junction" on the pieces !?

Re: Derek Fowler Studio Ltd.
That’s really interesting. Undoubtedly for marketing purposes, then

It’s very sweet. Maybe pass it to a relative on their birthday?
