Clear glass polar bear signed Elio - Raffaeli perhaps?
Hi
A stylish 16 cm long clear glass bear with etched Elio on base. The signature looks rough but I think it is genuine and looking around I'm thinking Elio Raffaeli.

Yours looks quite shaky and cautious, like it was done quite slowly.
This is an Elio Raffaeli signature - looks too different to me:
Even clearer examples are a lot more confident in execution:

Some more marks, I'm not convinced with the single name ones at all.

Interesting that another sketchy-looking signature has turned up, also on a cristallo animal, and too far away to reasonably be the product of a single naughty person with a Dremel.
If they're both Raffaeli pieces, possibly they're from somewhere other than ARS (where most of his work hails from)?

The basic styles of the signatures are the same - they're both forming the letters to the same end - its just the execution that's decidedly wonky.

I totally agree on both points. I have dropped his studio an email which they may or may not respond to. His site now states that he takes his time to 'sign all pieces personally' which is suggestive that there was another arrangement previously.

Artists signing their own pieces is not always a good thing - the great Fulvio Bianconi's own etched signature looked like it was executed in a darkened room whilst drunk.
