British art pottery vase? Empty British art pottery vase?

Post by mowen March 24th 2014, 7:40 pm

I picked this up in a mixed box from our local auction and am really struggling with it. It definitely has age and it's marked as below

British art pottery vase? P1011913

And the vase itself

British art pottery vase? P1011914

If anyone can point me in the right direction i would appriciate it.

Thanks

It might be Torquay ware.

It might be Aller Vale ladybird pattern, or a Devonware copy.

Wow! Thanks both, I'm now thinking its either aller ware or paw pottery?! Both have similar examples!

Yup, looking at it again I think its P then a bit of A, so deff going towards paw, coupled with the fact that I haven't seen those circle dots on aller....? What do you think? X

i think the PA is a clincher - but Naomi was spot on with the Aller connection as the two factories' work is often confused. http://www.pawpottery.co.uk/torquay.html

Stamped numbers on the base indicate PAW pottery, rather than Aller. Aller mark is normally handwritten, which is why I wondered if it was a later copy.
Googling 'WRANITZKY pottery' (PAW) shows something similar.
I'd go with Bistoboy's id.

Very interesting how similar the work of the two factories was, and the connections, now i can see the pa I'm feeling fairly certain it's paw. It's like scratching an itch, identifying pottery, I've got a few bits and bobs around at the moment that are irritating me, and to tick this one off feels like a strange kind of victory!! :) thank you for your help! :) x x
