Embassy of Japan - Chawan made in the UK exhibition
I went to the Private View of the above exhibition last night, which has the full title of "Insight into Beauty, Chawan Teabowls inspired by Japan, made in the UK". It is a selection of teabowls from 13 makers working in the UK.
The exhibition continues at the Embassy of Japan 101/104 Picadilly, London W1 until 1st December and is open 09.30 to 17.30 Monday to Friday inclusive and entry is free. Note: You do need photo ID with you (e.g. passport) to get into the Embassy.
The Embassy is towards the Hyde Park end of Picadilly between the Ritz and the Hard Rock Cafe. Nearest tube is Green Park.
If you are in the area it's worth a visit but photograpy is not allowed.

Saw it being discussed on Facebook - what a pity no photos - too far for me to make it down

They are of Margaret Curtis's bowls and the pictures were not taken in the Embassy - there was a photographer there though so images may well appear.skipposal wrote:A few photos here: Studio Pottery blog
I've not taken much notice of her work before prehaps because she is part of a "double act" but overall I think that her work was the best on show.

On yes and I got an email from Rachel Wood, whose work is also included, to say the exhibition goes on until 20th December and not 1st December as I stated in my origin post.

Rachel's bowls were also interesting, although I've always liked her work, but someone else who hasn't impressed me in the past but had a couple of bowls that I really liked was Ruthanne Tudball.
