Picked up this, and a similar piece (separate post) together. The other piece is marked SAMYE LING, which I assume refers to the Buddhist temple in Scotland, there are short references to "crafts" and "pottery" on-line.

There is no base to show, the marks on the rim by each hanging hole are where it was supported during firing.

Very nice. Highly professionally drawn fish.
Best guess is Ken Luckhurst, Primrose Ceramics, but even he may not be this skillful.
May be foreign. Possibly made specially for a temple.

It has the feel of a foreign piece but I'll follow up your suggestions.

I see what you mean about the quality of the fish, but in the hand I prefer the hanging bowl, better colour and texture.
