British wooden cylindrical pepper box?
I'm not sure about whether this box is British and for pepper, but at the moment I do not have any other ideas what it could be for. My first thoughts, it might be for cigars but soon ruled that out. The paint work is all done by hand. I'm hoping someone will help me with this one. The box is 7 3/4" tall. Your help is appreciated.

Too big for pepper or other spices. The clue might be in the picture. I suspect its for holding ribbon , maybe for trimming a bonnet and bustle.

Re: British wooden cylindrical pepper box?
You can date it from the dress, so I'd say Victorian. Probably English.

Thanx NaomiM. Since your information I was able to compare the styles online that are very similar. So would agree entirely. I very much appreciate your help.
