Re: Robert Brumby, York
Robert's studio was in York at that time so I would be surprised if it's not one of his

Re: Robert Brumby, York
the colour looks spot on, the technique matches that used on my pieces so I would say yes it is a Robert Brumby cross

Re: Robert Brumby, York
I spoke to Robert this evening and finally got confirmation that all my pieces were made by him He also told me of the studio he had in The Shambles, York (1963 - 1975)
Robert was commissioned to create many architectural pieces beginning in 1967,I have shown pictures of Liverpool and Manchester churches but can now add a listed church in Pontefract and St Michaels in Wolverhampton.
I believe there is also work existing in Manchester schools and possibly a pub in Liverpool! so plenty of leads for me to research

Re: Robert Brumby, York
Looks like AC YORK, not BC YORK

Pot signed York - Barbara Cass?
I think you have to account for the likelihood it was written very quickly with a thick brush and the base is only 4 cm in diameter.

brumby
I have two plaques presumably from the same sale of the venerable bede , and edwin being crowned king of northumberland.i got them from a collector called lee,who had researched them and thought they were made for the bowes museum at barnard castle, but never used,so were sold off a lot later.

Re: Robert Brumby, York
we would love to see them, I think they belong in a museum as they are too large to display in a private home

Re: Robert Brumby, York
I was lucky enough to find this one today. Apparently commissioned for the Bowes Museum at Barnard Castle, but never used. I think it's beautiful.

Re: Robert Brumby, York
I think it's fantastic. Bought it before I'd made the link with the Madonna and Child at Liverpool Cathedral.

Re: Robert Brumby, York
Fantastic piece. Not a potter I've come across before; hoping one will turn up at some point :)

I need to know more about him. Perhaps more of a sculptor than a potter.

Re: Robert Brumby, York
He did phone me a few years ago and said he was getting back into ceramic art but I haven't seen any new pieces on the market

Unknown maker (s?), 2 pots signed York, probably by the same person.
When I first picked up this brightly coloured vase ( YORK C : mark ) I thought it might have been a piece by Barbara Cass.
I am not sure who the mark belongs to, but I do think the same hand created both of these vases. The mark is a little different, but there are similarities and I think the K is lacking (on the brightly coloured one) because of a lack of room.
Your thoughts are welcomed, thank you.
