Mysterious Decrotive Tribal art

Got this under lock and key, that even Houdini would'nt be able to break out of. I was in Oxford yesteday helping clearing an old cottage when I stumbled accross this. It is still in it's current state and I have attempted to give it a clean........ or should I?. Mmmmmmmm! something is telling me The teeth is what I found of some interest. I first thought they were real, but looking closley and comparing it to the other areas that are white, I can now see that the paintwork has been thickly applied and has a more of a gloss finish. Can anyone tell me the origin and likely age?

A light dusting with a soft brush is all that's necessary.
I see it's got a hole in the back for hanging, and there aren't any eye holes so it couldn't have been worn as a mask, so probably a tourist piece made in the latter half of the 20th Century. However, if you're in Oxford then you could take some photos to the Pit Rivers Museum and ask them to date it.
