Sutton Pottery - Malcolm Flatman
I have had this 8 inch bowl for several years and have still not been able to ID it. I think it is stoneware but not sure. The mark appears to be an oval containing an eyed hook like a fish hook and an X. All thoughts and suggestions appreciated John

now I've seen this mark on a few things lately and always ignored it as for some reason it makes me think modern high street but for 20p thought I'd pop it on here and see if anyone else recognises it

thanks

Re: Sutton Pottery - Malcolm Flatman
Hello, I've come across a few pieces of this pottery's work but no-one usually seems to know the pottery mark as it's not in 'the book', but I can solve this particular enigma as it's the mark of Sutton Pottery in Norwich. Hope this helps.

Just reading their website and the mark is a representation of a windmill apparently

Re: Sutton Pottery - Malcolm Flatman
Thank you Potwurm for identifying that this and another item on the ID My Pottery thread was made at the Sutton Pottery in the small Broadland village of that name north east of Norwich. The pottery was started in 1977 by Malcolm Flatman and continues to this day making a range of reduction fired stoneware.

Hi John - I don't know if you've noticed but Potwurm has identified another pot with the same mark as your bowl as being from the Sutton Pottery (N.E. of Norwich).

I've seen it referred to as an oatmeal glaze because of the speckled brown spots and cream background.
Couldn't resist a big teapot today in a similar glaze (different pottery). Goodness knows where I'm going to put it.

Large Jug - Sutton Pottery
Identification help please.

I believe this pottery is a quality piece. The glaze has a birds egg appearance, speckled with a duck egg pale blue hue. It has a very clear mark and I think I have seen it in the mists of time but can't remember.
