I think it would be unusual for it to turn up the states, but a local potter to me - Lorraine Bates at Woodsetton Art Pottery produces pottery incorporating pewter in the designs.

It may be worth an email:-

But this is glass, isn't it?

The shape makes me think 1920s-30s, but the collar makes me think French turn of the century Art Nouveau. But the glass itself is not a type I've seen before.

Easily done. I thought it was pottery at first. It wasn't until I spotted the ID My Glass at the top of the page that I realised my mistake in time.

Hey all! Thanks for the help. It def is glass, with some sort of metal on the base of the top. We took it to an antique dealer here in MA (We purchased this in NY at an Antique Shop) and the individuals at the store said it didn't look like Metal overlay, but instead, applied metal.

Really have not found too much like it. but am really trying my darnedest to find out what this little fella is.

Thanks again for the help!

Does the base look like it was blown? Is that little circle in the middle of the base the point where they broke it off?

Thanks!

Difficult to tell from the photo. Could you put up another one from a different angle?

The colors are brighter in the new photos as I used flash. Figured maybe that would help a little bit! Thanks

I'm wondering if it's a reproduction of a piece of Roman glass. Maybe made for a museum shop. Might be worth asking your local museum to take a look.

May have to do that. It looks pretty old, so if it is a repro, it may be on purpose and not from a museum. I'll have contact someone.

It looks lampworked, is the glass light in weight?

The glass is very light weight. You could almost crush it with you hands with how thin it seems to be. I'm no expert on glass but the metal work on it is what confuses me along with it's tiny size.

Definitely lamp worked then, borosilicate glass probably.

What's the age on something like that? I mean, it looks to have been started in the 19th century, but is there a way of identifying the age?

Thanks a lot! I think you are correct!

I would expect it was made fairly recently but that is only a guess.

With the rise in popularity of metal detecting there has been a rise in the production of copies of antiquities. Either imported from places like Greece where they're sold to tourists, or made by metal-detector-ists themselves, or made for the reinactment societies. I expect this is one of those. Fairly modern. But worth taking along to a museum to ask an expect.
