This piece was given to me recently and I don't have the first clue about it's provenance. It is a thick free form slab of glass with controlled bubbles which get stretched/larger towards the edges. It measures about 30cm across with the spur shapes underneath projecting out a further 3cm. Weighs 2.487kg! No signature or sticker. Has a reasonable amount of abrasion to the base so I don't think it is too horribly new..!

Reminds me of a Sklo Union controlled bubble vase, but I can't find one this shape. Might still be Czech, though, rather than Murano or Scandi.

Tricky bowl, at first glance Murano and Czech are possibilities as might be contemporary Chinese. Much wear on the base?

Definitely not Sklo Union - that group of Czech factories only produced pressed glass which this is not (and nothing with controlled bubbles, again wrong technique).

There is wear on the base - I tried to get an angle on the close up photo of the base to show it. I'm doubting it is much older than the 1980s somehow though. Googling around I have seen some vases and such that seem similar (ish) and they mostly seem to have fairly woolly attributions as well!

The seller calls Sklo Union an 'art glassmaking studio'. It's quite safe to say that they're pulling random words from their head (or other parts of their body).

Výrobce: borské sklo, Závod Harrachov produced controlled bubble glass.
I have seen the one above listed as Borske Sklo by glass dealers.

Borske Sklo was not Sklo Union, though.

As I was once reminded by a former member here 'Sklo' is Czech for glass, not a particular Factory or maker.

Thanks to everyone for the education - I have learnt quite a few things I didn't know about Czech glass from this thread, very much appreciated. I will do some looking into Borske Sklo.
