French Crystal bowl

Post by lindylou08 on November 21st 2012, 10:39 am

Would be grateful for any help identifying this heavy bowl. The mark on the base, as far as I can tell is Seviel, France ( laser etched?) Can find no mention of the maker online. It stands 11cm high 16cm long. Thanks for looking

Hi

Do you have the mark in a photograph? Could it read Sevres?

Hi
The mark is indistinct and visible from only one angle , almost obliterated by scratches and impossible to photograph - especially with my bog standard digital camera!
Definitely NOT Sevres. The Seviel mark is in a script with an upward slant and underlined, with France underneath in capitals. Almost sure the first letter is S but a possibility it could be an 'ornate' L.

Could it be Verrier?

Or possibly Bayel, France?

Thanks for replies. I had come across the glass marks site, but was unable to fnd Seviel or any possible variants, I now intend to look at the whole site and work my way through the alphabet !!

Def not Verrier or Bayel as far as I can tell.

Watch this space will let you know if I come across anything.

I must stop picking up things that are unidentfiable - see my last query - still not found the answer to that either.
Thanks again

Sorry I ever doubted you RVsaid Most Excellent !!!!!!!!

The mark is Sevres and appears in the link you posted, although it bears little resemblance to 'mine'. I googled Sevres, France and there was an image of a mark much closer to mine and other images show very similar pieces.

Maybe you have the answer to my previous question posted on 14th November. There is no mark on it - and I AM SURE of that!!

Thanks again

:0) Well I only gently suggested and that page and the site are very useful.

Does anyone know a quick way of getting to old posts, including your own?
