African hard wood sculpture with Nordic overtones
Hello
I'm still stripping this piece as it had an awful coating of a treacle glaze so excuse condition. As shown a very shapely lady with accentuated form. The hands and arms loop and the hair is pronounced on the back going into almost a norman shield style. No markings nor idea of the wood though when I showed it to a wood liking person they thought it was probably an African wood. Any help would be appreciated.

Looks like a hardwood like Mahogany or Indian Rosewood. I can't imagine African carvers would give a lady hooves which indicates a Western artist, however the face looks oriental. May be Indian or Indonesian.

Perky. You could put an eye out with that.
