Mary White born 1926  started pot in domestic pottery in Wales. From 1975  she specialised in individual porcelain pieces, later combining it with superb calligraphy often in colour and gold lustre. She moved  to Germany in 1980, but still remained as a Fellow of the Craft Potter's Association for some years. There was aretrospective exhibition of her work at Contemporary Ceramics in 2011. This lovely little lidded bowl reminds one of the work of her contemporary Mary Rogers.

Mary White was probably more renowned for her Calligraphic work in later years. The Qeen's silver anniversary seems a long way ago now!

A photo can reveal and not reveal. This is actually a teensy small pot. But it is what Mary White was really good at. Such beauty in  a small thing.
