Huge Lifesize Glass Top Hat Vase?

Post by 20th-centuryboy on Fri Jan 27, 2012 5:49 pm

I bought this about 15 years ago, basically because I liked it and because of the size. I've been sorting through boxes in my attic and just rediscovered it. As you can see from the pics it is virtually life size with a ground pontil on the base. I know the Americans made a lot of small top hat vases and I have seen some decorative Italian ones but nothing like this? Does anyone have any ideas of the manufacturer??

Hi, I'm pretty certain it's a Whitefriars top hat glass vase. Made in the UK.

Doesn't match any Whitefriars colour/shape I've ever seen. Um...

I know soemone has one listed on Ebay at the moment as Whitefriars but I'm not convince either? It's certainly not mentioned in any of the books? I have a feeling it may be Scandinavian??

The ebay one was the one I spotted. I assumed that if they were asking *that* much for it, they'd have positively identified it.
Oh well, I'll keep looking.
