Vasaline glass bob bon dish

Post by Adam20 on Tue Nov 08, 2011 3:59 pm

Vasaline glass bon bon or compote - 4.25" high - vasaline foot and stem with bowl being rose coloured to opaque white - beautifully made - has the tiny bubbles you expect from a late 19thc piece.

Any ideas as to correct age and maker.

Thanks Adam

Have you tested it with a uv light? At first glance it does not look like uranium glass.

It may not be vasaline (uranium) now I think about it - does not seem to compare to my Davidson pieces.

But it is still quite old I feel - Sowerby is one option I was thinking about but there are so may others (Stourbridge) S&W, Powell, Walsh, Stuart, the list goes on.

Thought it might spark and ID with someone - ah well.

Thanks Adam
