Diana Worthy, Crich Pottery (Derbyshire)

I have a colour leaflet I got from the pottery, years ago, before it closed.
I guess I can't reproduce it on here, but it has some info on the colourways.
The leaflet mentions 8, but only has photographs of 7, so here goes.

BLUE / GREEN Blue/green/black
RAINBOW Light Blue/Dark Blue/Mauve
CORAL Red/Grey/Black
OATMEAL BROWN Beige/Dark Brown
HARVEST YELLOW Pale colours: Yellow/green/Grey
HEATHER Pale clours: Pink/Grey/Beige
AUTUMN RUST Beige/Brown on an Orange background.

I have only collected the rainbow so far, as it is by far the prettiest.

Hmm well I've got into trouble already with Buchan info I have, so I'll need mods
permission first.

as far as I'm aware Industrial copyright, including promotional materials, lasted 25 years after the end of calendar year of the initial release - but they changed it recently so that it's no longer possible for copyright to be owned by a corporation, but by the individual creators, and with the standard lifetime +70 years copyright length, as with art, books, etc...

are all being a bit naughty, or are just ignorant of the regs.

possibly but in our case skay is legally responsible for all content posted on the forum so we have to be whiter than white so he doesn't fall foul of the law (even though he doesn't read the pottery posts)

Diana Woodcock-Beckering, and returning to the Denby book, there is just the one
entry for her as the designer of the "Trees" pattern, c1970.

I always loved that pattern

Funny how little of it turns up, even round here. (BTW there is also a green version)
Maybe it wasn't a successful seller, but as a tableware range, I would have expected
to see more of it. Never seen a dinner plate or a cereal bowl even.

I once visited a Denby dealer who used it as her every day tableware,she told me it was made for 1 year only then production was stopped due to high manufacturing costs

   

   


Picked these two up at the same time. Jug approx. 4 3/4" high x 3 3/4" dia. ; Ladle approx. 12" long with 3 7/8" dia. "bowl". Presumably the ladle will have originally been with a tureen

Denby Pottery have produced a new ten-piece range of stoneware called Trees. Two sizes of plate (6in and 8in) together with a cereal or soup bowl form the basis of the set, which also includes a milk jug, tea pot and coffee pot, mug and saucer, and a sugar bowl. The shape was designed by Gill Pemberton and the decoration - black trees set against a spotted sky and candy striped hills - was by Diana Woodcock Beckering.

There is the standard purple Trees, and a Green Trees variation, maybe for export.
Very little turns up, even round here, ages since I have seen any at all.
Cosquently it can command some silly prices. The metal-handled tea pot (from Gill's
"Chevron" range), being a good example.

I once visited a Denby dealer who used the full set of tree pattern tableware every day, she told me it was the hardest of all to source

Found this dish or plaque today while out and about. When I first saw it my initial reaction was that it was Diana Worthy, Crich Pottery however it's unmarked and I've not seen anything other pieces of this form. It measures 19cm x 19cm roughly.

the design looks unmistakably hers but the colours are bolder.. it must be Crich though surely

The green is odd, and it looks press-moulded, not thrown.
Crich is usually glazed underneath also, even the plates.

It probably is, but it may be a trial piece.

That's actually what I was thinking Denby, wondered if it was for testing glazes.
I should also add that I did have a couple of Crich mugs with a very similar colour scheme a while back, don't know if I have photos of them anywhere though.

It's basically the "rainbow" colourway, but with green.

I am trying it ID creator of this stoneware jug/pitcher. It is inscribed on bottom: "Made In England". Also inscribed with a simple cipher mark, possibly letters "CP" joined?
It is approx. 11cm tall.

This is Crich pottery, can't say I've seen the made in england before though.
