Top one looks very much like a Mandruzzato Murano / sommerso Faceted green glass vase
Google that and see what you think
Good buy for £4 if perfect

I suppose it depends whether you're keeping it or not. If you bought it to keep and don't begrudge the £17.00, then you didn't pay too much. I've been guilty of paying over the odds for something I like, because the object was worth it to me.
On the other hand, I've no idea what your vase is worth on the open-market, so you'll only know if you paid too much or not when you find some price comparisons, or if somebody here who knows about glass can give you a clue.
For what it's worth, it looks like £17.00 well spent to me, I'd have paid that for it.
