Gregory Tingay

Post by climberg64 on July 15th 2011, 10:43 am

Another of the Dartmouth Park Pottery potters, Gregory Tingay was taught at the Buckfast Abbey Pottery (as Brother Alexander) by Mary Gibson-Horrocks who had previously worked with Bernard Leach. I'm told that she took many of the photographs of Leach at his wheel.

This is a small vase of his with a geometric scraffitto pattern. I think his work is highly original. Beautiful carved base.

I love it! Reminds me of Michael Andersen's designs

"Modern Art" is produced by incompetents, sold by charlatans and bought by ignoramuses?

It is enlightening to juxtapose "Fine Art" to "Modern Art"
