YELLOW PEAR DISH ~ MURANO BARBINI?
I bought this little yellow dish today at a Car Boot for £1. It is a pretty lemon yellow colour all over but it appears the rim is a deeper yellow but moving it proves it's not. It is approx 14cm from top to botttom 9cm at widest point and 4cm deep. There is a similar one for sale (in America) on eBay for £95 stated to be "Barbini Italian Murano Art glass pear mid century". The same seller has another but that one has gold flecks in the leaf and he wants £100+ for it. The main difference between his and mine is that the base on mine is ground to a heart shape (better seen through from the top in pic 1) and the other two are ground to a circle. Mine does have a bit of scratching to the base but this could have easily been done in China! Opinions please whether it is a 1950s Murano Barbini from Italy or a "piece of tat" from China. Vizibell

ARt Vannes ~France do similar - but I've only seen clear and I can't find my pear to compare at the mo. Worth looking into though. Is yours completely unmarked on the base? Art Vannes often have a diamond shape mark etched on the base.

Staring through the glass is like reading tea leaves. You'll find something that's not really there. I am sure that the scratches on the base are not in the form of a diamond. Thanks, Vi

Would you believe it! I've put in Art Vannes in eBay search and Cor Blimey there's a yellow dish said to be Art Vannes moulded glass, no marks, going for £7.50 or best offer. It's got a heart shaped ground base like mine. There are a couple of clear ones from the US going for a bit more. I think we can say my dish is Art Vannes. Well, not a life changing purchase more a good buy. Thanks again, Vi
