Beranek? purple bowl / vase
Hi,
I've had this bowl for over a year and thought it was by Murano. I price some old or glass items for a local Charity shop. Today I was asked to value a vase that I immediatly recognised as being a Bohemian Beranek Andromida vase. The charity shop intends listing it on eBay and I tried to set out the listing for them. On returning home I remembered my bowl and wondered if it could also be by Beranek. What do you guys and gals think. I've taken 2 quick photo's in fading light but I think you'll get the drift. The bowl is outer cased in blue with amethyst alternating rings. It was blown with a polished pontil mark. The bowl measures 6" tall and being round 6" diameter with a 3.25" opening.
Thanks,
Bryn

I might be wrong, as it's really not my area, but isn't the majority of Czech blown glass finished with a flat polished base?
It's a fun piece, though!

Good point you've made there Nic
Then it's probably not Murano either then - Mmmmm! Back to the drawing board.

I have seen a few more of these in the last year or so Bryn, the general consensus (including from some Czech glass experts) is that they are likely from Murano.
