Troika/Hudson vase pic 2
Maybe Louis Hudson and Linda Hazel collaberated on this piece....I somehow think not!

Re: Troika/Hudson Cylinder Vase?
I don't know an awful lot about Troika but that doesn't look like Troika production to me. I hope not but it's possible/likely that someone's decided to deface the back of an unrelated pot with a black marker pen in order to deceive.
We have quite a lot about fake Troika in our Pottery Discussion area.
Hopefully someone else more clued up will be along to confirm or rubbish what I've just said.

Re: Troika/Hudson Cylinder Vase?
You have summed up my thoughts Pip. It does look rather like a piece of Hudson, as it appears to be stoneware. However, as there is no indication of an impressed mark then it might just be a lookalike or a piece that Hudson forgot to mark, as all potters have done at times.
I suppose that it is fair to say that both Hudson and Troika have shared roots in what was happening in the ceramics department at Goldsmiths College in London in the late 1950s. There Kenneth Clark (of tile fame) and Gordon Baldwin had taught Alan Wallwork and Bernard Rooke. Hudson then worked for Alan in Greenwich before moving to the South West and Benny Sirota was introduced into the pottery scene in London at a similar time and would have seen the work of Wallwork, Rooke and Briglin on sale in Heals and elsewhere before he became involved in Troika.
As an aside, Alan Wallwork told me that he sold a significant amount of his output to Heals in the early 1960s and had a good relationship with the buyer there. The buyer then left and the new one decided to take Troika instead - it was more colourful and cheaper for Heals to buy!

Great Information....many thanks.
I can also confirm that this is a Hudson vase. Found the same design on searches.
