pottery beer stein
We have a beer stein made of earthenware I believe. There is a verse on the face of the mug which reads
YOUR SUPPER IS ON THE HEARTH DEAR
A PIPE AND A BOX THATS NEW
YOUR SLIPPERS ARE BY THE FIRE DEAR
BUT WHERE THE HELL ARE YOU?
This drinking vessel is glazed with a picture of a wing chair, with brown and yellow checkered
upholstry , a light brown toss cushion on the chair. The chair is next to the fireplace with a
roaring fire and a pair of slippers next to the fireplace. One top the mantle of the fire place is a mantel lock and a couple vases
There is a makers stamp on the bottom of the mug. The LORD NELSON POTTERY stamp with ENGLAND stamped on it and a Number as
well the number is 5-72. Any idea of its origin or age, should our boys be using this mug every morning for thier healthy shot of milk
at breakfast time.

Re: pottery beer stein
A picture would be nice but I have come across Lord Nelson Pottery before. It was a trade name used by Elijah Cotton of Hanley, Staffordshire from about 1956. Happily they used a date mark scheme so 5-72 means May 1972.
Re: pottery beer stein
Photos are ESSENTIAL in all ID requests - it isn't sensible to offer up information without being able to at least see a photo of the item.
