Post by KurtSchöner on Tue Feb 01, 2011 9:28 am

hello!

i have this nice, unusual looking black/yellow vase, at home since the last weekend.

there is a problem with the maker, i can´t find it anywhere.

maybe you have a idea of it, every hint would be usefull to me.

there is a lot of information on the base, first the number of the mould is 656, there is a stamp with a chicken or so called "Siena" and a sign "Kaiser the 712".

maybe someone have an idea?

hello!

did you mean the material?

It´s made of earthenware not porcelain.
i think this is not a kaiser vase because the stamp look not similar.

the number of the mold is 656, and the 712 number is the decor and "kaiser", possibly the painter.

there was only one vase i found from schmider that looks a bit similar, and this is has a tigris decor.
it is very hard to find some infos about a schmider mark or so, maybe someone has some infos for me?

Wouldn't the fact that the stamp says 'Siena' point to the possibility of it being from Italy? Shrugs

I thought that at first , in my book there is siena ( tuscany) but it's only 17th century majolica, the Kaiser thing is the puzzler for me Shrugs

Kaiser is surely a surname of german descent but Lina Wertmüller don't sound Italian at all... Have googled after Siena and the rooter but without success.

IDs often don't come quickly Kurt - they can take weeks, months or even years. Just make sure your photos stay in this thread and perhaps someone will happen along them at some point in the future and be able to help then.
