Bowl id?

Post by bitofbutter on Tue Jan 18, 2011 3:11 am

Anyone seen anything like this saddle bowl before? It appears to be stainless steel with a walnut (or teak?) base. The base is reminiscent of Adrian Pearsall -- unfortunately, both the bowl & the bowl are unmarked.

Oh, absolutely -- Seattle had a huge Scandinavian influx in the late 19th century -- by 1910, one-third of Seattle was Danish, Swedish, or Finnish. So, yes, i agree! We found this piece at an estate sale that featured a Wegner Papa Bear chair & a whole matching set of Vodder pieces (dining room, bedroom, etc.) as well as Kai Kristiansen dining chairs! My wife & I couldn't compete with the dealers for the high-end furniture, so we headed to the kitchen and found this among other interesting pieces.

The similarity to Adrian Pearsall's work is striking, but I don't think Pearsall did kitchenware. So, I'm clueless as to provenance -- there's no label, stamp, etc. Sigh.
