Industrial lamp ID?

Post by bitofbutter on Mon Jan 03, 2011 5:33 am

My first find of 2011 -- this was at a local Goodwill. I think it's a banker or library lamp? At first I thought it was modern, but the details are pretty clearly vintage -- 40s/50s possibly? It's in amazing shape -- the chrome is gorgeous and the paint is almost perfect. There's a red velvet/velour fabric underneath the base. Unfortunately, it's unmarked -- anyone have any ideas?

When lit, light spills out from the vents in the top -- totally cool.

I can't help with a maker, but the styling looks more redolent of the late 1960s - 70s to me. Although the bulb-holders, with their individual turn-key switches, are a nice nod to the traditional 1920s-30s design on which this is based.

Thanks for the date revisions, I suspect you're right. I wish I could track down a manufacturer, but there isn't even an UL label. *sigh*
