Chinese teapot, Famille Rose, Canton
Bought this teapot in a charity shop, the ticket read "sold as seen" so I checked carefully for any damage but couldn't find any obvious signs of damage or restoration, I get the feeling its pretending to be something it isn't. It is 5ins tall and has a wire handle covered in thin red string, the outer rim of the base is rough, as is the inner rim of the lid . Ive taken as many pictures as I could to give an overall view. Does anyone have any knowledge about oriental pottery.

Well I'd say it was Chinese, not a copy as such, but dates to the 20th C, I guess early - mid 20th C, but not 100% sure.

Re: Chinese teapot, Famille Rose, Canton
An auctioneer in New Orleans describes it as "Chinese Porcelain Famille Rose Covered Teapot, 19th c., with straw wrapped wire handles, the sides with bird, butterfly, and floral decoration"
I would guess late Guangxu or early Republic.and fencai instead of Famille Rose.
