Red and Orange Vase or Goblet
I picked up this piece today. A few small scratches but it was cheap and I love it. It's red and orange and about 6 inches tall. Base diameter is about 3 inches and the top about 3 1/2 inches. The underneath is shallow concave and there are no markings. I've looked in some books etc but haven't seen the shape anywhere yet. I have no idea where it comes from so if anyone could shed any light that would be great. Either way I really like it a lot and I suppose that is the most important thing.

Re: Red and Orange Vase or Goblet
It's vaguely similar to some Cari Zalloni designs for WMF that I've seen...

Pip
Thanks so much for this pointer. I just did a search on Cari Zalloni and I am going to have to look into this further as some of these designs really appeal to me. I haven't seen a picture of mine anywhere yet but I see what you mean. I have seen WMF items so many times in antique shows over the years but I never realised they did anything like this. My head has been turned

You're welcome - here's the design I'm thinking of and, as you can see there are similarities in both form and colour to your piece, but I've not seen an exact match as yet.

Cari Zalloni is one of my favourite designers too although I've only owned his pottery (the Zyklon and Facette designs for Steuler in particular). I'd love some of his glass WMF creations but, sadly, I just don't seem to come across any (you do see them on German eBay fairly regularly however). Nowadays Zalloni is most well known for his spectacles/sunglasses designs.

Re: Red and Orange Vase or Goblet
Sounds like I was fortunate to find this piece then. I paid £4 for it so I think I did quite well and I am very glad I posted the pictures as I have now been introduced to Zalloni. Whether my piece is one of his designs or not I think it's much more beautiful than his sunglasses
I have a feeling the shop where I bought it may have had another plainer piece, but I could be imagining it. When I go back to the shop I will be sure to have a closer look.
From doing a search on Zalloni I have seen some examples of his pottery and some of that looks wonderful too.
Thanks again Pip.
