Re: Orrefors or Holmegaard??
Both Orrefors and Holmegaard were owned by the Royal Scandinavia group, along with Georg Jensen, Royal Copenhagen, Kosta Boda, etc...
Sometimes you find pieces from one from the design stables of factory that were branded under the name of another depending on where it was to be retailed. Holmegaard retailed as 'Royal Copenhagen Crystal' is the most common, though. See: http://www.zeitgeist-i.com/G-Dk-0061.html
They were, essentially, all made in the same Polish glass factory by this point, so it was just a case of putting them in different boxes.

Thanks heaps, Nic. I knew about the Royal Scandinavian Group but I thought they always kept their various brands separate. Very interesting information!

Have to admit, it's the first time I've seen Holmegaard rebranded as Orrefors. Were it not for the box I would have assumed that someone had signed it themselves.
