Re: Amberina vase - American? ID help
What is the difference between Blenko and Amberina?
I have this piece which was sold as Amberina and is similar to some of the pieces shown. Both are from the States. Mine is about 10 inches high and tapers up to a 4 inch wide neck. The base is ground.
I love em but you don't see many in Britain. How do you go about dating pieces etc..?
Any info greatfully received..

Hi, amberina is this *type* of graduated coloured glass - lots of companies (mostly American) produced amberina glass including Blenko, Kanawha and Pilgrim some produced crackled amberina.
I'm moving your post to the ID My Glass section because that's where we post queries and requests for information. These main threads are for posting photos of confirmed attributed pieces and not really for discussion or requesting help in IDing.

OK Sorry still learning.
So Amberina is a generic term for this style of glass and colouring?

Re: Amberina vase - American? ID help
No probs :) Yes, Amberina is the name of this type of colouring where it goes from clear through various shades of yellow and orange and ending up in red. It seems to be an American thing - it's not (as far as I know) found in European glass so I think it's safe to assume it's American - but which company though I wouldn't know. Same as you we just don't get much American glass in the UK and, sadly, our American members don't seem to be very forthcoming with info here.
