Worcester Ware (England)

Post by Pip on Mon Jun 28, 2010 4:02 pm

Worcester Ware produced tin trays, placemats and other household/kitchen items - they're most well known for their 'Beatles' range which revived their flagging fortunes for a short while in the mid 1960s.

Here is a set of 6 Worcester Ware tin placemats dating from the early 1960s (although the style of illustration is more typically 1950s). They show 3 different scenes of Paris and are cork backed. I really like them.

This is one of my favourite Worcester Ware pieces - a printed tin magazine rack,
but they are getting incredibly hard to find especially without scratches.

Jumping For Joy Lovely, what a find!

Reminds me of pictures of a kidney shaped Beatles coffee table the MIL had, which she stripped out and put family snapshots (snotty kids and pets) under the glass! Rolling Eyes

Oh Skay, I'm not particularly fond of the Beatles but that is just vandalism; it's like a Les Dawson gag personified......."Take my mother-in-law....please"! Laughter
