French Plastic lemonade set?

Post by 20th-centuryboy on Mon Jun 28, 2010 10:07 am

I have had this in my collection for about 12 years now (stored away in yet another box) and wondered if anyone can positively ID it? It is a bright orange plastic jug with tubular handles that have a slot in so that the 6 cup handles can link to it. It also has a "Swizzle" stick which drops into the handle. It is marked on the base "MADE IN FRANCE DEPOSEE" and a manufacturers symbol that looks like 3 discs that have a line through them (see pic). I once saw one of these attributed to Pierre Cardin but for some reason I thought this unlikely as surely it would have had some reference to the fact marked on it (as a selling point).

I assume the logo is stylised lettering... I'm trying hard to think that it doesn't read 'POO', but perhaps 'PDD'?

I LOVE that set. My kind of thing - orange plastic!

Having said that I know nothing at all about it so can't offer up any useful info other than to say it reminds me of those 1970s desk/pen tidies.

Sorry! :)

It is very funky. I've given my usual sources of plasticky info a whirl, but can't find any company matching the logo.

Daniel of designXXeme tells me its a design classic that is in the book 'Utopie du tout plastique' but without any designer attribution
