Margaret Gardiner

Post by dantheman on June 27th 2010, 4:08 pm

For me Maggy Gardener is one of the top studio potters in the country, the quality of her porcelain pottery is beyond words, her glazing and decorating technique so inventive and so fresh that it is impossible to understand why she isn't exhibiting all over the world.

A very, very hot tip for the future

Maggie just emailed some pics to me but they are a bit too small so you'll have to wait for her to join the forum and post the full sized pics which were taken at the Rufford park potfest,I think you will agree they are well worth the wait

Had a lovely chat with her. She'd had a nasty accident and broke a hip which makes it difficult to sit at a wheel so she had to change her potting style. She also said there had been some keen collectors of her earlier work and when one died she had a large package arrive because the lady had put it in her will that the pottery should be returned to the potter. Inside was one of her early teapots. She said she was very touched but couldn't help wondering what had happened to the plates. Big Laughter
