Re: Höganäs
The Höganäs company was founded in 1797 by Erik Ruuth and Carl Bagge. The company's name varied in its early years. It began with Gustav IV Adolf Coke Works, Scanian Coal Board, Höganäs Coke Works themselves - pottery production did not start until the 1832. In 1903 Skromberga coal and Lerindustri became part of the company, and the name changed Hoganas Company.
Höganäs
has had several prominent designers associated with it, and some that must be mentioned, are Edgar Böckman 1915-1926, Ferdinand Call 1856-1859, Ake Holm, c. 1920-1929, Albin Hamberg 1889-1900, Helmer Osslund 1897, Astrid Liljenberg - Sieruin 1912-1914, Bernt Friberg 1915-1918 and Ottilia Adelborg (who only drew decorations). They together created many of the finest items at the factory.
Hoganas Keramik was founded 1910 by Karl Sigfrid Andersson and Johansson. The company was not named Höganäs Ceramics from the beginning, but went under the name "Andersson & Johansson Höganäs Keramik". The Höganäs Ceramic was the name given to everything produced on the site. In 1967 Höganäsbolaget changed it's name to Höganäs AB.
