Alsterfors? Globetrotter?
I spotted this vase on ebay, I have a pink one so when I saw the sticker I was excited to find out if it was Alsterfors or not.
Actually, the dealer I bought mine off said it was Alsterfors too(but I always like to keep an open mind on these until I know for sure).
Aseda springs to mind with the shape, but I'm not sure if they made these in these kind of colours.
Anyhoo, I asked the seller what the sticker said as it isn't an Alsterfors one I was familiar with and asked for a close-up of the label.
the seller replied saying that the sticker said "globetrotter" and according a valuer at an auction house, this was generic sticker for exported glass.
having googled for globetrotter, I've not found anything.
I do hope I'm wrong but "globetrotter" kinda screams Far East to me....
anyway, this is the ebay ad: clicky
and this is a slightly larger version of one of their pics to see the label slightly clearer: clicky
I can pursue getting a close-up of the label.
Has anybody seen this "globetrotter" label before or know its origin?

Re: Alsterfors? Globetrotter?
Interesting, shapewise it's similar to some Aseda/Bo Borgstrom designed vases with similar rim and base finishes (links to some sold ones for comparison in my shop below) HOWEVER - I've not yet come across any with that colour or type of casing on these shapes so I'm not convinced. Someone else might know if Aseda produced these types of vases in that style? I've not come across the 'Globetrotter' label either - that's a new one on me too. One thing we can sure of - it's definitely not Alsterfors.

If you compare the rim on the eBay one against the rims on mine it looks very clumsy - the colouring and finish on the eBay one is also making me think Far Eastern copy at the moment too I'm afraid.

I agree with Pip. No uranium there either, just lots of manganese methinks, which, funnily enough, is mined in China and so could be relatively cheap to use as a decoloriser.
That could be a handy hint, or not. Pip have you got any Alstefors you can shine a UV light at?
