Aseda p'raps?

Post by Pip on Fri Jan 29, 2010 8:45 pm

The colour of this vase in the photos is a little misleading - it's more purple/plummy than pink. Anyway, I'm thinking Aseda maybe...??

Its Dartington Crystal designed by Belinda Hornsey 1997-8 from the 'Intimates' collection. I've got one with one less bobble, it took me ages to find out what it was, eventually found a picture of the range in a book. I have only ever found one picture on-line. I Id'd one a couple of weeks ago on here....

Is it really? Gosh how interesting - I've only got books on Frank Thrower designs for Dartington so Belinda Hornsey is a new name for me - cheers mucho Davee - I'll look into it some more.

Found this one on ebay, its the opposite of yours, they were designed to sit side by side.

I've seen those ones before and I knew they were Dartington but I hadn't realised they did one in reverse - so to speak. Clever innit.

The series is pictured in the new-ish 20th Century British Glass book...

Unfortunately that picture only shows half the range, the other sizes have been cut off,

Have you bought it Nic? Is it the Charles Hadjamach one you're talking about?

I've got so many books (both pottery and glass) I wasn't sure if it was worth me buying that one - I'm sort of assuming that it'll all be covered in the many books I've got already.

What do you think of it Davee?

Personally I think its very good, of course it can't cover every manufacturer in the greatest detail, but it does a good job never the less.
