labelled HG vase - att: Nic

Post by Pip on Thu Jan 28, 2010 12:41 pm

I came across this vase with a Holmegaard label on it whilst browsing through Trademe NZ. I'm intrigued because I've never seen this particular shape or colours used on a piece of HG before. Nic (or indeed any of our other members) can you tell me anything about this? Is it HG production? Nic, you'll recognise the seller as being the one on the GMB with the not WF purple overturned rim thingy .

I'm having problems with direct links to the item so go to www.trademe.co.nz and type in the listing no : 267857338

This particular seller's prices are craaaaazy man - they have a Hornsea rainbow planter 5 or so inches tall so not particularly big, the pattern is reasonably sought after but it's by no means rare. I don't actually like the rainbow design - it's too 80s looking for me (even tho it's not). Anyway, proper retail price here in the UK for one of these would be £25-30 tops - this seller has his up for a starting bid of £88 (at today's currency conversion rates).

The retro/vintage market is obviously at a very different level to here in the UK.

Anyway, back to the original question re: Holmegaard and the weird black and turquoise vase.

Perfectly legit Lütken design... about 1955, off the top of my head. Came in a variety of shapes and forms, including dishes, ashtrays, cigarette-holders...

There should be a dish illustrated in Andy Mc's book.

Well I never - this design and colourway from HG has never come to my attention before. That's something new learned - if I ever come across an unlabelled one in the future I'll know what it is :-)

Thanks Nic.

They're not very common - at least on our shores. But give me a tinkle if you do find one, as I've not got any images of the series in my photo collection.
