Dunno Dan , it appears now and again on certain pieces ,but as yet , as far as I know nobody knows what it means , this Kera stuff is the only german pieces that has been bandied about as various other things , it bugs the hell outta me .

Thanks, we had two of these. the smaller one was sold recently on ebay. all we know (courtesy of kevin graham) is the design is by walter gerhards
it was produced between 1972 and 1976 for the luxury low volume end of the market. this one is a keeper though (then again we never say never!!)

(will upload pics of the smaller one when we can.....)

Yes , I have spoken to Kev about them , some have a WG mark on the base others don't , one had a separate label ( kera and WG) but as to when all the others were made is anybodys guess , they were originally tied in with soendgen , but that seems dubious now , there seems to be so many variables regarding these that pinpointing exactly is dodgy , dating and guessing how many were actually made is even more dodgy IMO.

in many ways your opinions reinforce the reasons for our infatuation with the pieces of this period, the fact that this collecting genre is new and constantly being updated is all part of the fascination............. a flow of information between collectors is crucial to the expansion of knowledge in this field. we find even the most sketchy details can eventually be collated into an approximation of accurate information. it's great that you have shed some further light lol! (sorry!!) on the situation

I am all for collaborating with other collectors /dealers and do so quite regularly and that has resulted in a number of pieces of wg keramik stuff being put right ,,but sometimes the slightest guesswork can upset the whole thing and before you know it stuff is being named, dated and who designed it etc. designers / potters move and cross over from different companies just like any other job , anyway the quest goes on and on and ........................ the trick is to keep theory separate from proven facts

the assimilation of all the given information will only ever be possible through a process of elimination. confirmation can only be achieved by factual consensus. you only have to look at sales arenas such as ebay to see misinformation spreading. within the confines of a specialist forum such as this we think that the spreading of theories and opinions can only equip the process with more meaning, where the more experienced (such as yourselves) are able to produce fact on matters of theory.
anyway too heavy for a sunday man................
