Denby Pottery
Nice glazes to this 6.5 in 170 mm diameter bowl - came with the batch of Scandi Studio pots.
Incised initial D to underside. Any ideas anyone?

Re: Denby Pottery
I don't collect Denby but i use it every day, so I enjoy it more regularly than my collection.

Re: Denby Pottery
Lynne, yours is a Diana Worthy piece, she used to design for Denby then went it alone with her Crich pottery in Derbyshire. She packed it up and emigrated .... New Zealand I think?

Re: Denby Pottery
The Denby 'Trees' pattern (my absolute favourite Denby design) was produced in 1971 and for one year only - this would explain it's scarcity - in 3 years of looking I've only managed to track down two side plates :-(
Some more info below:
* 'Into the trees Denby Pottery have produced a new ten-piece range of stoneware called Trees. Two sizes of plate (6in and 8in) together with a cereal or soup bowl form the basis of the set, which also includes a milk jug, tea pot and coffee pot, mug and saucer, and a sugar bowl. The shape was designed by Gill Pemberton and the decoration - black trees set against a spotted sky and candy striped hills - was by Diana Woodcock Beckering.'

Denby 'Tigo Ware' by Tibor Reich
Tibor Reich (1916 - 1996) born in Hungary.
Tibor Reich designed a highly collectable black & white range for Denby in the 1950s. He's also famous for his designs in other fields such as textiles.
When I first became a professional dealer I sold this dish on eBay - I didn't know what it was then but it sold for a lot more than I was expecting so had a feeling it might be special! I now know that it was a 'Pusta' (star) dish from the Tigo Range and is the same shape as the 'T' he used in his Tigor logo. See here for logo http://www.retroselect.com/Denby/tibor%20design%20large%20march%201959.gif

More from the Burlington range - these pastel colours were slightly later than the black & white above.

Alice Teichner Denby bowl
I aquired this Denby bowl recentley and was hoping someone could throw some light on the markings on the base. The AT monogram i'm pretty sure is Alice Teichner but I don't understand the W T L & S, any pointers in the right direction would be appreciated.

Re: Denby Pottery
I can find a couple of references to "WTL&S" on Poole from the late '30's as well, so most likely a retailer.

Re: Denby Pottery
Thanks, I have since found out that it was indeed a retailer.

Florid Sgnature - Who??
I think I might have seen this signature on here somewhere, but before I trawl through everything looking for it to see if I did see it here or not does anyone recognise it and thus point me in the right direction please?
