I think he threw a dart at an Italian telephone book and went with it.

LOL - it's quite interesting though to see how far some people will go in their fib-telling just to sell a vase.

From the auction:
"As stylish today as the day it was made."

So... it's been stylish for about 48 hours then.

Laughter indeed, as stylish as the day last week when it came off the container ship from China.

I'm gonna ask him about this Vanutti chap too ... am feeling in a naughty mood today.

Re: Ebay item

You know how we've highlighted the seller faking Troika, and there's another seller selling glass with faked Lalique signatures that we've discussed and now this fella making up Italian sounding names to add provenance to his mass produced Chinese carp? Should we think about setting up a thread dedicated to outing these types of 'interesting' sellers?

We'd have to be careful not to libel anyone but I'm sure it can be done and it may help stop some people from parting with their money in good faith. Whaddya reckon?

I dunno , it's a dodgy one, I think it's good that we tell each other in the forum if we think somethings not right ,nobody wants to be duped , but if an ad says, in the style of, or troika era ,etc. then that's ok , if, like him he is claiming it to be something it aint then by all means it should be made known , what do others think?
