A Google search for 'Vanutti' just brings up this same auction, so not a clue.

Sure I've seen very similar bits in TK Maxx, though.

I don't have a huge knowledge of Italian glass (not really my thang) and it's very difficult to gauge the quality without being able to hold and inspect the item personally HOWEVER my gut instinct is that it's come from the Far East along with a million or two others fairly recently.

Crazy innit , you stick an Italian sounding name on a bit of glass and bids flock in .

TK MAX all day, they have loads of this stuff, a lot of its good quality, its either Polish or Chinese. It pays to have a browse though I picked up a marked Stuart Crystal Conran bowl for a fiver, it was labelled up as Bohemian Crystal.

The branch here has ditched all the quality crystal (Rosenthal, Dartington, et al) in favour of large ugly blobby glass from the far east. *sigh*

Not 'signed' either - Ed, why don't you ask him if he's got a photo of the 'Vanutti' signature on the other one he sold Innocent
