I'm new here! I need ID help w/ 2 pcs of art glass - possibly Murano?
Hi -
I usually hang out at eBay's PGP board and someone there suggested I try posting these here. :)
First is a really interesting sculpture. It has 3 ‘arms’ and sits on a square, highly polished base (all one piece). The colors are red, green and clear and it is 11” tall. The base gives the illusion of being mirrored and it is just over 3” square. It weighs 5 pounds and I see no marks.

Second is a pretty cased green ruffled candy dish. Is this aventurine? Can it be attributed to anyone? It has a polished bottom with a pock mark from the pontil and I don’t see a mark. It measures 6 ¼” by 5 ¼” on top.

Thanks for chiming in! :) I appreciate your help.

Hello, and welcome to the board!
I think the sculptural piece is fairly brand new, made in China, and probably retailed through TJ Maxx (aka TK Maxx on this side of the Atlantic), or a shop of that ilk.

Hi Nic -
Thank you for the welcome and the quick reply.
from across the pond!
I was starting to think the same thing about that sculpture. Oh well... that's the way it goes when trying to learn about a new area. I appreciate your time.

Exactly - I've got an attic full of 'learning curve' purchases!

Hi Dantheman!
My personal collections cover a rather diverse range. I collect Irish Belleek, Wallace Nutting photographs, Santa Claus figures (my house always looks like Christmas
). I also collect perfume bottles, enameled copper and those kitschy plastic souvenir snow globes.
What about you?
As for what I sell, if I think I can make a profit, I'll try it! LOL No furniture, and my preferences run toward glass, pottery and china items. Do you sell as well?
How has your summer been? I used to chat with a man from Lincoln... last I heard, it had been a rather cool summer. It's been pretty cool here with above normal rain. New England really does have similarities with England! LOL
Nice to meet you both, by the way!

Wow! you do have eclectic taste!!
I would love to see some pics of your enameled copper.
I'm mainly into English studio pottery but I also collect carved wooden art,Dartington glass, sea shells....I just realised my taste is eclectic too!

Dan, I just posted a bit more about myself on the intro thread, and I changed my avatar to whet your appetite for my enamel copper collection! LOL It is a Catherine Holm bowl that no longer lives with me.

Hi Cousins - lovely to have you here and it's great to hear about your very varied collecting tastes - I look forward to seeing some of your things.
By the way, I'm sure you already knew this but re: your avatar it's Cathrineholm (one word) - a place in Norway where they specialise in enamelled metal and not a lady's name as many people understandably think it refers to.

Hi Folks!
Hope everyone has had a terrific day!
Pip - I think I did know that about Catherineholm - but somewhere along the way, I forgot. Thank you for the reminder!
Ed, nice to meet you, and no, unfortunately I don't have any of the R.C. Santas.- I'd be happy to add 1 to my collection if you'd like to send me an early Christmas gift!
Dan - Is Val Harris a name I should know?
