#5,#S? What the!? ID= Holmegaard 'Majgrøn'
Hi there, Bought this at auction with some other Holmie stuff and thought, right, Per Lutken May green folded bowl, end of story. But when I turned it over the usual PL thingy and Holmeguaard name weren't there. Just #5 or #S. What the?! Can anyone tell me what this means? Thanks!
Cheers,
Mr. Roboto

We need Nic to take a look at this... I'm not an expert by any means but did Per Lutken design a folded bowl like this for HG? I don't think he did.

Yup - it's Per Lütken for Holmegaard.
The bowl in this colourway is from the 1963 Majgrøn / May Green series, although the bowl itself was designed in 1958.

The signature, which is actually 'II S', denotes that it was a production second not good enough to retail - so it was probably sold on the cheap through the factory shop. Other known signatures for second production items are just 'II' on its own, or '2'.
I love these bowls - I've got a slightly chipped one that I use to keep my loose change in!

Thanks Nic,
My money was on a second as well. Tough to see why though. They must have secret x-ray vision!
